  • Maximum volume control is standard for application versatility
  • High speed operation for mobile applications
  • Heavy duty cylinder block and body castings provide long life and reduced noise

Product Description

The variable volume and pressure compensated design simplifies circuit design, and reduces heat buildup and noise.  Four pump control options permit the designer to choose the most efficient means to power his hydraulic equipment.  Choices include the standard pressure compensator control, remote pressure control, load sensing control, and horsepower limiting control.

Brass piston slippers pivot and rotate to equalize wear while a fluid passage through the slipper reduces loading and provides lubrication for the piston shoe and wear plate.  Hardened swash plate and trunnion pins provide rugged support for the piston block and associated rotating group components.

Efficiently designed porting reduces noise at all pressure and flow levels for quiet, efficient operation that eliminates the need for noise shrouds.  The rugged, cast iron body is thicker at stress points which contributes to quiet operation.

Specifications

  • Mountings: SAE 2 bolt mountings.  SAE ‘A’, SAE’ B’, and SAE ‘C’
             Tandem pump drive capabilities
  • Capacities: 6, 10, 15, 20 29 GPM @ 1750 RPM
  • Displacements: .88, 1.26, 2.09, 2.62, and 3.78 cubic inches per revolution
  • Pressure Compensation Ranges: 200 to 3500 PSI continuous duty, up to 4000 PSI intermittent duty
  • Recommended Fluids:
    • Petroleum based fluids are recommended.  Fluids should be designated by the fluid manufacturer for use in hydraulic systems.  Fluids should contain inhibitors to prevent rust and oxidation and should contain anti-wear, anti-foam, and deaerating agents.  For other fluid types, please contact your Continental Hydraulics representative.
  • Recommended Operating Viscosity
    • Petroleum based fluids:
      • Optimum – 140 sus (30 Cst.)
      • Continuous Minimum – 60 sus (10 Cst.)
      • Continuous Maximum – 750 sus (160 Cst.)
      • Max cold start up 7500 SUS
    • Fluid Cleanliness – ISO 18-16-13 is recommended
  • Operating Temperature – Operating temperature is determined by the viscosity characteristics of the fluid used. Control operating temperature as needed to assure that fluid viscosity is within acceptable limits. Because high temperatures degrade seals, reduce the service life of the fluid, and create scalding hazards, fluid temperatures should not exceed 180° F. (82° C.) at the case drain.
  • Mounting Position – Unrestricted. However, horizontal mounting is preferred.
  • Relief valves are recommended for all applications to help protect personnel and the system from potentially damaging overloads

Product Description

The variable volume and pressure compensated design simplifies circuit design, reduces heat and noise, and can lower horsepower requirements.  These rugged PVR vane pumps feature compact design and excellent horsepower to weight ratios, and are known for being the medium pressure workhorse in the industry.  PVR pumps maintain constant pressure while matching system flow demands.

A direct spring operated compensator provides fast response for varying system demands and eliminates contamination prone hydraulic assisted compensator valves and pistons.  The patented “Walking Ring” design is a unique indexing pressure ring design that rotates slightly with every change in output.  Wear is distributed evenly around the inside surface of the ring circumference, which helps to extend pump life.

Hydrodynamic journal bearings eliminate shaft to bearing contact, and since there are no moving parts with this bearing design, pump life is not determined by a B-10 rating.  Balanced vane tip loading acts throughout the entire pumping cycle to extend ring and vane life.  The one piece forged rotor shaft can absorb system loads with minimal deflection.

To simplify maintenance, the patented pressure balanced thrust plate eliminates the need for shims and spacer units, and yields pump efficiencies up to 90%.  Computer designed porting reduces noise at all pressure and flow levels with noise levels as low as 68 dBa [NFPA T3.9 12M-1970 (R1981) Tested].  This can help eliminate the costs for special noise abatement enclosures.

Features and Benefits

  • Heavy duty one piece rotor minimizes shaft deflection
  • Hydrodynamic journal bearings provide long life and quiet operation
  • Wide variety of pressure compensated controls for efficient system design
  • Balanced vane tip loading produce long vane and pressure ring life
  • Overall pump design produces significant advancements in noise reduction
  • Repair kits allow for fast and complete pump reconditioning
  • Tandem cover options permit multiple pump operation with a common input shaft
  • Shock clipper reduces shock pressure by up to 50%

Product Description

The variable volume, pressure compensated design features of this pump combined with significant advancements in noise reduction make this pump a perfect match for many industrial applications.

The controls available provide for standard pressure compensation, load sensing, remote pressure control, and horsepower limiting.  These control options permit the machine designer to utilize efficient pump controls that are tailored for the requirements of a hydraulic system.  PVX controls are available in both single stage and two stage designs.  All of the PVX controls exhibit very good response and recovery times and can incorporate a shock clipper that reduces shock pressure by up to 50%.  This feature increases system component life and system stability.

The hydrodynamic journal bearing design is a feature that enhances the quiet operation of this pump, and eliminates the B-10 rating of the unit.  A one piece rotor shaft contributes to this rugged design with minimized deflection when under high system loads. The rotor design allows the designer to easily configure a tandem mount rear drive option that provides the flexibility of driving multiple pumps with a common input shaft.   This eliminates the need for additional prime movers, when multiple pumps are required.

Porting plates that provide proper timing for the inlet and discharge cycles of the pump, are designed for efficient and quiet operation.  These pressure loaded port plates provide optimum running clearance to the rotor and contribute to high volumetric and overall efficiency.
